NASM Certfied Personal Trainer - New Course Dates

Sport981 are taking bookings for the National Academy of Sports Medicine 'Certified Personal Trainer' course running during September, October and November.

Whilst much of this programme is self study the course includes 3 weekend workshops which will run on:

NASM logo22 and 23 September
20 and 21 October
17 and 18 November

The deadline for enrolment is 6 August.

IDC Candidates Progressing Well

Congratulations to the IDC classess at Nottingham Trent University, Notts County Cricket Club, Mytennis International High Performance Centre and Sheffield Eagles RLC that have passed term one examinations.

All classes are progressing well with the strength of group members increasing year on year. Keep up the good work guys and enjoy your christmas break.... its stepping up a notch for term two....were getting heavy on the performance tweaks and sharpening up those lifting skills!

RECRUITING NOW: STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING INTERNSHIPS

Sport981 are looking to recruit a number of individuals to join the Instructor Development Course and support the delivery of strength and conditioning training at 3 of the East Midlands top sports clubs and institutions.

Successful candidates will also receive extensive education support including certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the UK Strength and Conditioning Association.

We are currently seeking individuals to gain hands on experience supporting the delivery of strength and conditioning training at the following institutions and clubs:

NTU Logo Based at one of the top 20 sports universities in the UK you will work with the lead strength and conditioning coach to gain experience supporting 11 different squads covering 7 sports. See the NTU IDC Prospectus

Mytennis Strength and Conditioning InternshipStrength and Conditioning Coach Internship with Education Support

Mytennis in partnership with Sport981 are inviting applications for a new Tennis Specific Instructor Development Course.

Successful candidates will train to become a strength and conditioning coach at the Tennis International High Performance Centre in Loughborugh gaining hands on experience with some of the best junior players in the country.

The programme also includes extensive education support including certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the UK Strength and Conditioning Association.

Success for Sport981 Strength and Conditioning Interns

Instructor Development Course LogoTwo graduates from the 2010 - 2011 Instructor Development Course have been successful in gaining positions at professional sports clubs following their year long traineeship with Sport981.

Dominic Walsh has secured a position with the strength and conditioning team at Swansea Football Club who were promoted to the Premier League this season.

Luke Kelly has taken a position at Northampton Rugby Club who compete in the Guiness Premiership and is looking forward to working alongside the strength and conditioning team in the top level of English rugby.

He said this about his experience on the Instructor Development Course...

Sport981's IDC course has given me self confidence, knowledge and practical skills that have already and will in the future allow me to build a successful strength and conditioning career!

Emma Vickers recently dominated the BUCS Table Tennis Championships winning the Individual, Team and Doubles titles with her partner Caroline Hallows. Emma was also awarded the Player of the Final.

TASS athlete Lucy O'Sullivan (Archery) has also once again been selected to represent Great Britian in their forthcoming competitions.

Congratulations to both athletes from all at Sport981.

Sport981 Present at the TASS National Advisory Group and LTA Conferences

Ian Hall TASS PresentationIan Hall recently presented a workshop at the TASS National Strength and Conditioning Advisory Group. Ian's workshop looked at 'Mobilty, Stability and Movement' and was presented to other TASS Lead Coaches.

Gareth Hall will be presenting off court and on court workshops at the Lawn Tennis Association National Strength and Conditioning Conference on 30th March 2011.

The off court session will look at 'A brief review of shoulder joint kinematics with practical solutions for the strength and conditioning coach working in tennis'.

The on court session will focus on 'Understanding the biomechanical and underpinning anatomy of the first serve with special emphasis on leg drive mechanics - practical exercises and solutions'.

"From a young age, Chris always had a keen interest in sports and knew that he eventually wanted to pursue a career within the sporting world. When the opportunity arose for him to specialise in strength and conditioning he jumped at the chance.

Sport981 Bring Strength and Conditioning Training to Nottinghamshire's Coaches

Once again we have been invited to present a series of workshops in partnership with the Nottinghamshire County Council. These workshops which are always enjoyed by our tutors started this month at the Becket School on injury prevention and performance preparation.

"For the past three years Sport 981 have run a great package of training for our Talented Coaches Programme. The coaches are from a range of sports but have always spoken about how beneficial the workshops have been to their training sessions. The workshops are pitched at just the right level, informative but delivered in a relaxed manner with the tutors being able to draw and their vast experience and knowledge."
